| Well I guess this all started on the 24th of April 2008.
It was at the Orange hobby, baby and Toykingdoms 25th anniversary battle night that I seriously thought about opening a club dedicated to Warhammer fantasy battle, the idea had been tossed around in my head before as there did not seem to be much room for us at the current modelling and wargaming club but I was always doubtfull about its success as I had little idea of the number of players in Orange.
After seeing the turn out on the 24th I was convinced that we needed a club!
The next few days were spent coming up with ideas and easing the fiance into the idea of me starting a club, I eventually came up with a plan and got the ok from the misses.
My next problem was how to run it as I work shift work and I would not be able to run it regularly but this was sorted when I found some good friends in John Thomas, Steve Kind and Ben Yeoman to become Officials to help me get it going and keep it running.
The next steps were to find a way to get the word out and find a venue which I thought would be the most difficult task but after talking to Gillian at Orange hobby, baby and toy kingdom the task became alot easier!
Gillian and John have proved to be an extremely big help for the club Gillian suggested calling council for advice to find a venue.
It proved the right way as this is how we got our club.
Gillian also agreed to back us further by advertising us through the shop (which is where most of our members have come from) then we were helped evan further with some wonderfully generous donations that I am very gratefull for!
Everything was now looking like smooth sailing, we had a club and good support but we needed gaming boards and terrain and lots of it as the responce from gamers was starting to snowball, So I put the word out to our officials, friends and evan some family that I needed help.
They were more than happy to jump into it, the only problem was WHERE to do it?!?!
Steve and I had already done a bit, making some trees, a ruined building and a mountain in my kithchen but it was not very practical! |
